Product Description

 Hydroxyethyl Cellulose(HEC)

Hydroxyethyl Cellulose(HEC) is a non-ionic water soluble cellulose ether, which is a white or off-white, odorless, non-toxic fibrous or powdery solid polymer produced by etherification reaction of alkaline cellulose .HEC has good properties of thickening, suspending, dispersing, emulsifying, bonding, film-forming, water retention and protective colloid, HEC has been widely used in paints&coatings, construction, oil drilling, pharmaceutical, food, textile, paper and polymer
Polymerization and other fields.

1. HEC in water based paint
Paint and Coatings are the largest application area for HEC. HEC is used as a dispersant, thickener and pigment suspending agent in the production process of latex coatings to stabilize the viscosity of the product, reduce agglomeration, and make the paint film smooth and smooth. Shear strength, and can provide good leveling, scratch resistance and pigment uniformity. At the same time, HEC has excellent workability. The paint thickened with HEC can be applied by brushing, rolling, filling, spraying and other construction methods, which has the advantages of labor saving, not easy to drip and sag, and less splashing. HEC has excellent color development, and has excellent miscibility with most colorants and tie materials, so that the formulated latex paint has excellent color consistency and stability.

2. HEC in petroleum industry
HEC is mainly used as a thickening stabilizer in the oil field treatment process. It has good thickening effect, strong and stable sand suspension ability, heat resistance, high salt capacity, small pipeline resistance, less liquid loss, fast gel breaking, and low residue. It is a good oilfield chemical and is widely used in drilling, completion, cementing and other oil production operations.HEC is also used as a fluid loss control agent in oilfield applications.
3 .HEC in food and medicine
HEC is mainly used as thickener, colloid protective agent, adhesive, dispersant, stabilizer, suspending agent, film-forming agent and sustained-release material in the food and pharmaceutical fields, and can be used in topical emulsions, ointments, eye drops It can be used in various dosage forms such as oral liquid, solid tablet and capsule. HEC is currently listed in the USP/US National Formulary and the European Pharmacopoeia.
4. HEC in daily chemicals
Due to the superior performance of non-ionic HEC in film formation, enzyme resistance, moisture retention, pH stability, etc., the application range of non-ionic HEC is expanding in the field of daily chemicals, in detergents, liquid soaps, hair care shampoos, hair lotions, It has been widely used in nutritional lotions and products such as fats, creams, lotions, and ointments.
As a binder, HEC enhances the performance of the binder against high concentrations of ions, greatly improves the storage stability of the paste, and prolongs the storage time of the toothpaste.
HEC has excellent resistance to electrolytes, and its solution is stable under high concentration of salts. It is the best choice to use HEC as a thickener for soap-based body washes. Disinfectants and bactericides added to hand sanitizers have very different solubility in aqueous solutions, and HEC can form a uniform and stable emulsification system.
5. HEC in other fields
HEC is also used in many areas of national livelihood. For example, in the textile field, HEC-treated cotton, synthetic fibers or blends can improve their properties such as abrasion resistance, dyeability, fire resistance and stain resistance, as well as their body stability (shrinkage) and wear resistance Properties, especially for synthetic fibers, make them breathable and reduce static electricity. It has a thickening effect in the printing and dyeing paste and can be used as a carrier for dyes, so that the dyes are well dispersed, providing excellent permeability and the correctness and stability of patterns and colors. In addition, in the field of papermaking, HEC can be used as a sizing agent, a reinforcing agent and a paper modifier.
