Overview:                     
Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC),also known as hypromellose, is a non-ionic cellulose ether made from natural polymer such as refined cotton or wood pulp through a series of chemical processes.HPMC is methyl cellulose ether derivatives polymer. HPMC is an odorless, non-toxic,tasteless white powder that can be dissolved in hot and cold water to form a transparent viscous solution.HPMC has the properties of thickening, binding, dispersing, emulsifying, film-forming, suspending, adsorbing, gelling, surface active, water retention and protecting colloid.HPMC is widely used as a thickener for drymix mortars,tile adhesives,water-based paints, wall putty for interior and exterior walls, thermal insulation mortar series, pharmaceutical excipient, food ingredient,PVC,detergent,ceramics,Personal care & home care,textile etc.

General properties of HPMC
1.Water Solubility
HPMC has no solubility limit in water. Surface-treated and granular HPMC can be directly added to water-based systems, which makes it easy to use and control the dissolution rate, but untreated Meserox powder products are easily soluble in cold water and must be thoroughly dispersed in water to prevent Caking.
2.Thermal Gel
HPMC can provide rapid gel performance at a specific temperature. The gel formed by different protein thickeners will return to its original state after cooling.
3.Surfactant
HPMC as a surfactant can provide emulsification, anti-caking and long-term stability in aqueous solution.

4.Enzyme-resistant
HPMC can provide stable viscosity during long-term storage.
5.PH stability
HPMC is very stable in the pH2-13 range.
6.Water retention
HPMC is an efficient water retention agent. This is a very important property for construction, food, surface coating of ceramics and other fields.

7.Thickening
HPMC can thicken aqueous and non-aqueous systems. Viscosity is related to the molecular weight, chemical type and concentration of the product.
8.Film-forming  
HPMC products form a transparent, strong, flexible film that can keep out grease. In the food field, it is often used to retain water and prevent oil absorption during cooking.

9.Adhesion 
HPMC is often used as a high-performance adhesive in the pigment, paper, tobacco, food, pharmaceutical and ceramic industries.
10.Lubricity
In rubber products, cement, and ceramic extrusion molding, HPMC is used to reduce friction. It can also be used to improve the pumpability of cement and spray plaster, such as decorative mortar, and in the food industry, as an auxiliary lubrication for extrusion molding.

11.Suspension
HPMC can be used to control the sedimentation of solid particles, such as spices and condiments in salads, solids in ceramics, suspended antacids, etc.
12.Anti-colloid agglomeration
HPMC can be used to prevent liquid agglomeration or particle agglomeration.
13.Emulsifying
HPMC stabilizes emulsions by reducing surface tension and increasing system consistency.

Application Range  
   
1.Pharmaceutical excipients: 
HPMC is raw materials for film coating; film materials; retarder rate-controlling high polymer raw materials; thickeners; suspending agents; sheet adhesives; tackifiers                                                               
2.Building&Construction :
HPMC is used as a humectant for mixed mortar, and a retarder to make cement mortar pumpable. As a binder for plastering, cement plaster , interior wall putty powder or other decorative materials, it improves the performance of plastering and increases the actual open time. It can be used as floor tile, marble, plastic decoration, adhesive, and can also reduce the amount of concrete. The water-locking property of HPMC makes the slurry not easy to crack quickly after scrubbing, thus improving the compressive strength after hardening.

3.Paints&Coatings :
HPMC used as an emulsifier, thickener, and architectural paint thickener, and has good water and solvent compatibility in the architectural paint industry. can be used as a paint stripper
4.Printing ink:
